Danza España performs in concert regularly with a yearly winter season at the Thalia Spanish Theatre in Queens, a New York City season, as well as touring to colleges and universities throughout the year. Performances at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, DTW's Bessie Shönberg Theatre, the Caramoor Music Festival and the State Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama are but a few of the venues for this company's work.
JoDe Romano, who began her professional dance career at age three, is a graduate of and former instructor at the High School for the Performing Arts in Houston, Texas. For the past four seasons, Ms Romano has danced in the Metropolitan Opera's production of Carmen, with Placido Domingo and Maria Benitez. Directed by Franco Zeffirelli, this version of Bizet's classic has been broadcast on the PBS series Live From Lincoln Center and was part of a highly successful 1997 tour of Japan.
In addition, excerpts of her performance are now presented as part of the Met's special 3 Tenors Gala 2000.
Ms Romano has lived and performed throughout Spain, and was soloist and choreographer for The Jose' Greco Dance Company. Prior to her work with Mr Greco, Ms Romano danced flamenco as part of The Charo Show in Las Vegas.
The festive and quick-pulsed music, dancing and singing of Spain, in the hot blooded Flamenco style. They are available for parties, concerts or special events and in various combinations for large and small events.
