A lone coyote trots along the silent desert floor
She notices me noticing, not knowing what I'm watching for
Then, recognition flashes in a message that she sends
We share an inner circle of friends

We've gathered through the centuries, enlivened and awake
In numbers small, to heed the call, with life itself at stake
With one Soul at the hub whose inner presence never ends
To lead this inner circle of friends

And the sphere of its influence moves out beyond our reach
Like the chambers of a nautilus tossed on a starry beach,
Whose inner spirals wind around and 'round without an end
To form this inner circle of friends

In a planetary system in Andromeda somewhere
A Soul cries out for help and in an instant we are there
Our names go unexchanged though we remain there till it ends
To serve within this circle of friends

And the sphere of its influence moves out beyond our reach
Every one of us is in us all, and all is there in each
And every Fall, the ones who hear us calling will attend
To join this inner circle
To share this inner circle
Come serve within this circle of friends
